Baron is an eight year old rottweiler mix who was found by the Michigan Humane Society abandoned in Detroit in January. He was malnourished, his back legs and tail had been lacerated, and his nose and both ears had been severed off.
Baron’s injuries were so extensive that he would need surgery to reconstruct his muzzle and tail. Led by Dr. Bryden Stanley, a soft tissue surgery specialist at Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, surgeons completed the successful surgeries in February, allowing Baron to start recovering and living a more comfortable life — and be able to get adopted by his forever family.
What’s even more amazing is that Dr. Stanley and her team did the surgery for free!

MHS staffers knew they had to act fast to save Baron’s life. They reached out to Dr. Bryden Stanley, head of surgery at Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, to reconstruct Baron’s tail and nose.
Stanley, Dr. Maria Posiedlik and Dr. Robert Fisher, MHS’ chief medical officer, performed the three hour surgery. According to Stanley, a surgery like Baron’s can cost anywhere between $3,000 and $3,500. Stanley’s team decided to do the surgery free of charge.

It’s just incredible to see how these surgeons came together to make sure that Baron received that best care possible and that they did it for free. Thank you!

I also meant to add to my comment, to the family that adopted this handsome super gorgeous boy (even with his injuries) thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
God bless you too, please give him an abundance of the love and understanding, patience and rehabilitation he needs to feel trust again. Hold him and kiss him and value his little soul, that has been so let down and traumatised by a sick vile demonic scum pig posing as a human.
You are special people, and I am so grateful he has you. Please give him lots kisses cuddles and belly rubs from me. xxx

We’re so very happy for Baron, now that he’s been helped! Our deepest appriciation to all the doctors who gave their services for free. We would do the same! Certainly wish MORE humans had compassion for animals. And, if this ‘was not’ a dog fight, and humans did this – hoping their extermination has already taken place!!!

Kuddos to the whole surgical team that did this for Baron !! I too was forever mutilated at the hands of a drunk driver. And while yes “good people do make mistakes.”, this heinous crime and drunk driving is a crime commited against all humanity, and should be punished accordingly !! T little PR**K who did this to me, and apparently Baron, didn’t even get his wrists slapped ! I say ; Hang um High !!
