The Michigan Humane Society just shared some wonderful news. Baron, a rottweiler mix that they rescued in Detroit has just been adopted.
But this isn’t a normal adoption story. When the Michigan Humane Society found Baron abandoned in Detroit he was severely injured. Someone had cut off his nose, both of his ears, and badly hurt his tail. He was “brutally disfigured” and malnourished. Despite all of this, Baron was still friendly to people — he just wanted to be loved!
In order to save him and help him breathe normally again, he had to undergo two surgeries.
They surgeries were a success and will help him live a more comfortable life.
“The Michigan Humane Society would like to share that Baron had his reconstructive surgery today and is doing great. The surgery lasted around 2 hours and 30 minutes. His nasal passage is now covered and protected and his tail was shortened and sutured. Our veterinary team reports that he came through with flying colors, and is resting quietly while he recovers.”
It took him some time to recover fully and he received lots of support from all around the world. Many people wanted to adopt him and he ended up adopted by a man and woman who wish to remain anonymous, but knew Baron was the dog for them after hearing his story.
It’s so wonderful to see that after all he’s been through, Baron has found a loving forever home! Look how happy he is:
Unfortunately, the person or people who did this to Baron still haven’t been caught. You can help raise awareness about Baron’s case by signing our petition on Change.org and making a donation to the Michigan Humane Society, who are offering a $40,000 reward for information that leads to their arrest.

The second happy ending that I read today. Sometimes I am so ashamed of the human race. I am glad to know there is still goodness out there. When first saw baron I cried cudnt get him out of my mind. Never seen such horrific injuries that had been done deliberately to an animal. I was hoping vet cud refashion nose so he cud breathe, that’s been done I just hope in time he’ll gradually ,

I was so deeply upset after getting the initial email about the horrible evil things that were done to Baron, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. It’s amazing to see the hard work done by good people to help him, and see that he found loving, gentle people to give him a new lease on life. Thank you to the kind humans who have chosen to be the exact opposite of what this sweet animal had to endure. He can now experience the kindness, compassion and love that he deserves. This story really touched me and the pictures show of how Baron pulled through this- are miraculous. Dogs are mans best friend. The betrayal of this bond and friendship is externally evident. Yet, Baron wants to give mankind a second chance. He has love and hope with his new family now. Please love him and never, ever betray that loyalty. Words can’t really express how happy I am about Baron’s successful surgery and his new loving home. Ever since I read and signed the petition, I haven’t been able to get Baron off my mind. How could anyone be so cruel, and torture a dog to that degree? I can’t even fathom what thoughts were going through the minds of these two individuals, and worse yet, the pain that poor Baron endured…and for what reason? Animal abuse laws must become stricter, and people have to be held accountable for their actions, because if they don’t, these kinds of acts will continue, and will get worse and worse. Serial killers begin with animals, and then the challenge becomes people…we need to stop these hate crimes…now! Thank you again for opening your home and heart to Baron, as you have received a very special gift of “unconditional love” from a very special dog.
